FAQ
Honest answer: Beehiiv subsidizes their biggest customers with their smaller customers. We don't have that volume yet, so our cost basis catches up at the high end. The premium pays for own-IP isolation and dedicated deliverability ops, which Beehiiv Max doesn't include either. If you're at this scale, the domain ownership and cold opt-in matter more than $130 of monthly delta.
Resend Marketing through 50k contacts (faster onboarding, better DX, similar deliverability). AWS SES for 50k+ subscribers via per-account routing (lower cost basis at scale). Cold opt-in always goes through an isolated Postal instance regardless of tier so your main reputation stays clean.
To add three DNS records on your domain, yes. To do anything else, no. The platform is a web app. The $99 onboarding add-on covers the DNS step if you want help.
Yes. You own your list, your domain, and your archive at all times. Export to CSV, point your domain DNS back at Beehiiv, you're out. We're not interested in lock-in.
CAN-SPAM compliant by design (verified opt-in confirmation, working unsubscribe, postal address on every send). GDPR requires explicit consent which cold opt-in doesn't provide, so we geo-block EU/UK addresses from the acquisition stream by default. You can disable that if you have a separate legal basis.
Auto-detected on your active subscriber count. We bump you to the next tier on the first of the month after you cross the line, never retroactively. If you import 50k contacts and then immediately suppress 40k of them, you stay at the lower tier.
